Southland Just Got a Little Sweeter
The doors of Toot Sweets have officially swung open after stage one of Invercargill’s most delicious attraction was recently completed. The Tay Street lolly shop welcomed smiling faces of all ages at the grand opening on Saturday, March 9, where treats from throughout the ages provided something sweet to satisfy all types of taste buds. Transport World General Manager of Tourism Courtney Russell said all involved were thrilled to have the main Toot Sweets store open following a three-month pop-up in the Invercargill Central mall. It’s true, a photo speaks a million words. And it was no exception when it came to capturing the raw excitement of visitors arriving on the big day. “From the moment visitors walked into the shop, they have been looking round in awe, surrounded by sweet treats including giant lollypop trees, a gummy bear wall and a giant orange lifesaver. We’ve been super surprised by the diverse range of ages of the customers at Toot Sweets, from the really young right through to retirees.” Follow the laughter up the stairs and you will discover Toot Sweets’ party rooms, perfect for every occasion. While getting older might be part of life, celebrating surrounded by lollies is fun at any age. Toot Sweets hosted its first party in March, with partygoers smiling from ear to ear and having fun making their own sushi out of lollies and painting masterpieces on edible paper with edible paint! Open six days a week in the Invercargill CBD, the really exciting part is that the best is still yet to come. An attraction will be opened behind the shop in due course, with fun lolly-themed activities for all ages. It really will be a lolly-lover’s paradise, where every sweet tooth is sure to meet its match.
