Major Milestone Achieved at O Mahurangi Penlink Project
We’re thrilled to share the successful completion of Pile 9 for the foundation of the Weiti River Bridge—part of the ongoing O Mahurangi Penlink project. O Mahurangi Penlink is being delivered by an Alliance made up of NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, HEB Construction, Fulton Hogan, Aurecon and Tonkin + Taylor. Pile 9 is the first of four and is among some of New Zealand’s largest single-bore piles in a marine environment, diving 48 meters deep and stretching 3 meters wide. Our team, with strategic support from Firth Industries, navigated this challenge with precision, delivering 360.4 m³ of our specially developed high % SCM Supplementary Cementitious Material. This innovative mix not only provides enhanced chemical resistance, it significantly reduces embodied carbon showing a commitment to sustainability and industry best practice.
16 Allied Concrete trucks, assisted by five from Firth, together with the Advanced Pumping team’s round-the-clock effort, made this engineering feat possible. This accomplishment stands as a testament to our commitment to innovation and teamwork.
