Dynes Transport Steps Up for Sustainability

Aiming to recycle nearly 200,000 tyres across Otago

Dynes Transport is excited to support New Zealand's national waste reduction initiative, aiming to recycle nearly 200,000 tyres across Otago. In collaboration with Treadlite, it is backing the government’s Tyrewise scheme to tackle tyre waste. New Zealand generates around 7 million used tyres annually, often ending up in farms or landfills. Dynes cadets will collect an estimated 190,000 tyres from up to 160 garages, covering areas from Timaru to Balclutha, and process them into bales in Dunedin or Christchurch. This offers cadets valuable learning opportunities and exposure to responsible practices.

Tyrewise aims to address the environmental challenges posed by waste tyres by establishing a comprehensive recycling and disposal framework. Treadlite, a leading tyre recycling company, converts end-of-life tyres into crumb rubber, used in sports surfaces, playgrounds, civil engineering, horse arenas and road construction.

This partnership highlights Dynes Transport's commitment to sustainability and responsible waste management.

The Cadet Program at Dynes Transport is dedicated to developing future leaders in the transport and logistics sector. Through hands-on experience, mentorship and career development opportunities,
cadets gain essential skills. Involvement in the Tyrewise scheme provides practical experience and instills environmental responsibility.

By participating in the Tyrewise scheme, Dynes Transport reduces waste, conserves resources, and decreases the environmental footprint of transport operations. This involvement exemplifies their dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainability, promoting a circular economy and strengthening their role as a leader in New Zealand’s transport industry.
