Heavy Haulage: Transporting a Rare Sight for New Zealand
Southern Transport's Heavy Haulage division recently undertook the impressive task of transporting a new PC490 Komatsu digger from Christchurch to Central Otago. The journey was handled by a Mack Superliner pulling a 4x8 trailer, expertly driven by Wally Templeton and piloted by Mark Purdue and Bobby Little. This PC490 Komatsu, equipped with cutting-edge satellite control technology, is the first of its size in New Zealand, weighing approximately 57 tonnes with all attachments, bringing the total transporter unit weight to around 81 tonnes.
